Im redoing my sons bathroom, very small area, just where sink and commode are is about 4×6 feet. other side is shower stall. I am considering doing it in garage style and anything goes. am looking at parts washer for sink, tool box for vanity cabinet, diamond plate wallpaper, lots of chrome, stainless, galvanized, stuff. The flooring has me stymied. Looking for something like a hard surface you would find in a shop or garage, but i have particle wood floor base. He wants a concrete look. Please throw any ideas my way for things to do to this bathroom, i pretty much will try anything.

I am remodeling my garage into a family room. It has a concrete floor, but I am building a “wood floor” over it… putting down floor joists and a subfloor.

My question is – With this kind of construction, should I use 3/4″ plywood or 3/4 wafer board? And why

i am planning to frame a wall to separate half of my garage off to make it into a room and the frame of the ceiling is a little difficult to work with, in the picture provided you can see that there is a gap between the bottom piece of wood and the tin roof, i want to frame the wall below this piece so how would i go about covering/sealing the gap between the roof and wood.?

My laundry is inside of a very old and poor bathroom. I plan to first move the laundry to garage and then have the bathroom remodeled with tub/shower separated, of cause wall/floor tiles. I’m not looking for luxury features just new/clean is enough. So how much will cost, like only more the laundry, and labor of the bathroom remodeling.
I’m in San Francisco Bay area, but any other area should also provide the ideal I believe.

Thanks,
Chuck

Do they care about neatness, style, just organization ect. Do they want to use their garage as a entertaining or work space?

I’m planning on redoing the inside of my garage, The garage is made out of blocks and is separate from the house, its also heated. I do not have any plans of making it a living space but rather a place that will be warm during the winters to projects or to play cards with the guys, I am going to frame the inside with 2×4s. What type of insulation should I use, I’m looking to do this cheaply and don’t need anything fancy, do I need to do rolls of insulation or can i use the pink boards, and how much do they cost?

I’m remodeling my garage myself, and you could say I’m somewhat new and unfamiliar with the rewiring part. I’ve been a dry waller my whole life so I’m familiar with that aspect of the job.

My question is:
Once I shut the garage breaker off from my electrical box, will juice or electricity still be running through the old wires that I want to rip out and cut out?

My objective is to rip the old wires out, install the new ones and then have an inspector come out and check my work.

I just want to make sure I survive long enough for the inspector to make it to my place and make sure I did a good enough job. And I also want to make sure that I don’t cut or rip a live wire and get electricuted with 1000’s of volts of electricity and die right there on the spot. Thats very important to me.

Im doing it for my wife and kids. My two kids want a couple of punching bags and a wrestling mat, and as far as the wife, she wants extra garage space for her car,and oh yea, lots of shelves and cupboards. And in these tough economical times we figured we could save a lot of money by doing it ourselves. So I guess we’ll see what happens

P.S.- incase of any accidents or my sudden death while I’m working on the garage please donate a quarter to my wifes paypal account at j.renda51@yahoo.com…haha just kidding!!!!!!!

Seriously though, any advive would be greatly appreciated, and could save my life.
